Using the relation

s = ut + gt 2 As the body is falling from rest, u = 0

s = gt

2 Suppose the distance travelled in

t = 2 s, t = 4s, t = 6s

are s 2 , s 4 and s 6 respectively.

Now, s 2 = g

2 = 2g

s 4 = g 2 = 8 g

s 6 = g (6) 2 = 18 g

Hence, the distance travelled in first two seconds

(s i ) 2 = s 2 – s 0 = 2 g

(s m ) 2 = s 4 – s 2

= 8 g – 2 g

= 6 g

(s f ) 2 = s 6 – s 4

= 18 g – 8 g

= 10 g

Now, the ratio becomes

= 2 g : 6 g : 10 g

= 1 : 3 : 5
